If you want to learn how to become a professional DJ, then the first thing that you need is the right equipments for you to start learning on. You need to remember that learning how to become a DJ is not something that you can do overnight. It takes years of practice in order for a DJ to become really good at what he or she does.
With the proper equipments, you will be able to practice right in the comforts of your own home and master the art of the professionals.
First of all, you will need decks. Well, you need at least 2 decks in order for you to start mixing songs together. Basically, having two decks will mean that you will be able to play 2 tracks at the same time, which is essential in mixing.
For the decks you have three options.
You first option is to get a turn table. This particular deck plays vinyl records. Some DJs prefer doing it old school but this can get quite expensive as you need to purchase vinyl records over and over again because of the fact that they are very easy to damage.
CD decks are another option. Basically, it works like your traditional turntable decks but instead of playing vinyl records, you play with music CDs. It’s a lot durable and because it’s digital, you will be able to easily operate it.
Lastly, you can get a laptop with a DJ controller software. This particular deck uses digitized music or MP3s. With special software, you will be able to mix MP3s like you would with a CD deck or a turntable.
You will also need a mixer. This is basically where most of the components are plugged into, which include the decks. The mixer will allow you to control the volume of each deck and most of it will have features, such as changing the sound of the music being played by reducing or increasing the bass frequencies or the treble frequencies.
Most mixers already include an effects unit. But, buying a separate effects unit is a good idea. With an effects unit, you will be able to do all sorts of things with the music, such as add echo, flanger, delay, and even auto panning just to name a few. Make sure that you get an effects unit that is able to synchronize the effect to the BPM of the song being played.
Monitors are also essential. This will give you a good sound, which will eventually help you create that perfect mix.
Lastly, you will need headphones. It may seem insignificant but this is one of the most important equipments that every good DJ should have. Unless you want your audience to hear your feeble attempts in mixing the music, you will want to get a pair of headphones. With this hardware, you will be able to prepare the mixing of the current song in to the next song without the audience hearing it. This will allow a smooth transition from one track to the next.
These are the equipments you need in order to get started with your DJ career. With the right equipments, you can start practicing and master the art of DJing and eventually become a great DJ who will be able to throw one great party.
